KCER is promoting hurricane preparedness in the dialysis community:
The Kidney Community Emergency Response (KCER) Coalition will be exhibiting a booth at the 2008 National Hurricane Conference in Orlando, Florida, March 31 through April 4; and at the Florida Governor’s Hurricane Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, May 12-16.
I serve on the Kidney Community Emergency Response Pandemic Preparedness Response Team which is trying to prepare for an unthinkable disaster that will happen someday but that could be anytime from today to years in the future.
Hurricanes are a different matter - they happen to one degree or another every year. If you are a dialyzor and live in an area where a hurricane is a possibility then you should have a plan if something wicked is coming your way.
