In the Fall of 2007 I started training on NxStage. Inspired by Epoman's 2006 training diary on IHD, I kept a daily diary titled NxStage Training Starts, which I casually subtitled "The good, the bad and the bloody" . My nurse now prints my training diary (all 11 pages of it) and hands it to her new patients Dialyzors. (If had realized that was going to happen, I would have been more diligent in my editing and spelling)
I think that keeping a dialysis training diary (whether private or public) is a great way to remind yourself of what happened, because you are learning so much over a short period of time. Reading Training Diaries is a great way to get a feel for the training experience, and is a good introduction to the ups and downs of home dialysis training even though each person is different, with different set ups and needs. I think that the more that we all share our experiences, the less intimidating starting home hemo can be.
