My Subaru is packed to the gills; tomorrow, I hope by 10AM, I'll be heading to Chicago. 2,100 miles. My Mom is in the ICU tonight, she had a stroke or series of strokes today. I've talked with my brothers and sister in law and it sounds like she got treatment in time and has already improved from this afternoon.
A friend will be driving with me and the dog. It's 32 hours of driving, 34 hours on the clock when you head east. With any luck I'll be on dialysis Monday by midnight. It is possible that I will post road reports but normal blogging will be disrupted until further notice. Anna, you're in charge.

Praying for you guys.

Best of luck to your Mom and have a safe trip. Must be some bad karma with moms going on - both my mom and my mother-in-law have had themselves stays in the hospital over the last 30 days.

I made it - got here at 3:30 AM this morning, it took 38 hours. My mom does not appear to have any impact from the stroke other than a slight slur and a drain tube out of the top of her head because of possible swealling she'll be in the ICU for three or four more days.
I'm looking to set up a Caring Bridge account - email me if you're here looking for information about Sue Peckham and I'll direct you there.
