Here are the CKD related blogs updated since my update on 8/9. If you have or know of a blog that should be on the list let Bill know. Comments in parentheses are my reactions or opinions.
- Dialysis from the sharp end of the needle Peter decries the flu commentators that continue to downplay the impact of H1N1, resulting in inadequate preparation for the coming flu season.
- Kamal Shah's Blog Kamal conquers his fear and scaled the summit of the high diving board.
- Kaply, Inc. Tracy starts a diet; will be having another fistula surgery Friday, wishes she could just stop eating.
- Toastiest Someone steals Toastie's weed-wacker from off his porch; reviews Bill Maher's movie Religulous; is embarrassed at how many North Carolinians think President Obama wasn't born in the United States because they don't know that Hawaii is a State.
- Hasten down the wire goes to Atlanta for a wedding and realizes he misses the South, especially the food; an article relates the history of hypermedia and hypertext.
- The Life of a 20-Something With Lupus Flo decides to forgo her nightly dialysis since a storm is beginning and she's afraid a power failure might interrupt her treatment; Flo's video didn't win the contest. (So sorry, but it was a very nice video, nonetheless.)
- PKD & Dialysis ... Where I Tell It Like It Is has been very fatigued and decides to try going to bed earlier. (Good idea.)
- On the Road to a Cure The LFA applauds new legislation introduced by Senator John (Jay) D. Rockefeller IV (D-WV) that caps out-of-pocket drug coasts and suggests you ask your Senators to co-sponsor it. The Bill is S.1630 "The Affordable Access to Prescription Medications Act of 2009;" Amanda Davenport updates on Hell's Kitchen, she had a lupus flare but is still fighting to stay on the show, shares another delicious recipe - Roasted Chicken and Arugula salad with roasted pears, grapes, and goat cheese with balsamic vinaigrette; has a link to connect you with your Senators and talking points for discussing S. 1630 with them.
- The Daily Dialysis Bonni reports that Mark is doing pretty well on dialysis and feeling better, fistula now being used, a schedule change is more compatible with his work, they are adapting to the dietary changes, Bonni is fatigued; Bonni and Mark have a spat over who should make lemonade, she is peeved, feels he is not appreciative of all she does as caregiver and takes her for granted; next day, unasked, he made the lemonade and all is right again. (I think finding a caregiver support group, either in person or online, would be a good thing for you, Bonni.)
- I Am. Are you? has a poignant story about a baby who became a donor.
- Bud's Ramblings Bud's dialysis went better but he still needs to remove more fluid, wonders if he can get an extra day of dialysis, and if Medicare will pay for it.
