By Bill Peckham
The Northwest kidney centers has an excellent bundling resource page on their website as part of their effort to engage patients and the rest of the community in the dialysis payment rule making process. In addition NKC is putting on three forums:
NKC will hold forums for patients about proposed new rules for Medicare dialysis coverage. Enjoy kidney-healthy snacks and get answers to your questions. Speakers will be CEO and president Joyce F. Jackson and emeritus trustee Bill Peckham, who's been on dialysis for 19 years. No need to RSVP, but let us know if you have questions. Contact Janice McGee, 206-292-2771, ext. 1120, or Janice@nwkidney.org
I wouldn't say we'll be speaking, so much as leading the conversation.
The available written materials are very good (e.g NKC's explaination, MEI's explanation (PDF link)) but I think these face to face meetings are a great opportunity to get up to speed. There are going to be three:
- Tuesday, Nov. 3 – 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Bellevue Library
- Saturday, Nov. 7 – 2 to 4 p.m. at Haviland Pavilion (downtown Seattle)
- Sunday, Nov. 8 – 2 to 4 p.m. at SeaTac Pavilion (across from airport)
These are open to anyone who is interested. Come on down and talk to us about how dialysis is paid for and the changes that have been proposed. Medicare wants your input, find out what you need to know.
