Today was a lazy day at sea as we circumnavigated two thirds of the way around Cuba counterclockwise. The main event was a renewal of vows. Jeff and Susan (watch their pre-cruise video) celebrated 25 years of marriage in a ceremony preformed by the Valor's Captain, while a group of the NxStage cruisers looked on; cake and campaign were served. It was a very nice event.
By all reports dialysis is going well. A few cruisers dialyzed last night or at some point this day. As I write this my machine is all ready for tonight's treatment. Tomorrow the tenders start taking people to shore on grand Cayman Island about 7AM. About 14 of the NxStage cruisers have signed up for a catamaran snorkel trip to Sting Ray City.
In 1989 while I had my transplant I visited the Caymans and spent a week at the island's only Bed and Breakfast. It was a great trip; at the time, as I knew a future of dialysis was looming, I thought it would be my last trip abroad. (Sometimes it is nice to be very wrong) I rented a scooter for the whole week and visited most of the island but the highlight was a SCUBA trip to Stingray City.
Even 20 years ago a large contingent - dozens - of stingrays had grown accustom to being fed by a daily influx of tourists. Apparently, these days there are even more looking for a free meal. It should be fun.

My husband and I are in training now for Nxstage. We are hoping that the Freedom Cruise will be a yearly thing. We were hoping that we would be all trained in time to go on this one but luck was not on our side :). I hope you all have a great trip! Keep up the post and the pictures!
