This 2005 photo shows the Aksys (Automated Kidney System) Personal HemoDialysis System in operation. The Aksys PHD was on the US market from August 2002 until January 2007. It was designed to offer 5 to 7 hemodialysis treatments a week (of up to 170 minutes duration) in the home.
